Food-Water-Energy Nexus

  • Food

This is the agricultural business unit. We believe that this is the pillar on which our survival depends and as such have interests in the staple crops (wheat, maize and corn); hemp and moringa. These have been carefully selected for their food security benefits and multi-use cases with an emphasis on precision agriculture. The absorption of labour is immensely high in this sector - jobs South Africa deeply needs. Ultimately, we work with emerging farmers in the Eastern Cape to optimise human capital and land.

  • Water

This is the water and sanitation business unit. Here we look for opportunities to salvage what remains of this precious resource in the water scarce region of Southern Africa. Our interests are currently on dam/river rehabilitation (in partnership with Watermaster) and desalination leveraging our position as energy suppliers which is the biggest input.

  • Energy

This is the Independent Power Production Unit and is the biggest unit in the business. We intend to revolutionise the Southern African energy space through careful selection of projects in the region, primarily in Namibia and South Africa, as an optimised function of energy resource and grid capacity. Our interests are Solar, Wind, Hydro and Waste-to Energy.

We have three sub-units, namely, energy land realty (which leases land for renewable energy developers and other IPPs); Independent Power Production (build, own and operate power stations selling energy) and Research, Development and Consultancy (agrivoltaics, energy data analytics and energy modelling - both forecasting and project financing).
